Canelo Alvarez vs John Ryder: Picks & Preview 05/05/2023

Game Preview

Fight Preview

Mexican boxer Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is set to return to the ring on Saturday, May 6th, to face off against John Ryder from England. Alvarez’s most recent fight was against Gennady Golovkin in September, where he won a narrow victory in their third match, while Ryder won the Interim WBO Super Middleweight Title in November after Zach Parker pulled out with a broken hand.

Alvarez has claimed numerous titles in recent years, including the WBC Super Middleweight Title, the WBA belt, and the WBO title, by defeating Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders, and Caleb Plant, among others. Despite his wins against tough competitors like Rocky Fielding, Sergey Kovalev, and Avni Yildirim, he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Dmitrii Bivol in May 2021.

Alvarez has an outstanding record of 58-2-2, with his only other loss being a majority decision to Floyd Mayweather in 2013. Throughout his career, he has faced and defeated other formidable opponents, including Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Miguel Cotto, and James Kirkland. However, he has struggled against rivals with a quick and stiff jab, as evidenced in his fights against Golovkin, Mayweather, Lara, and Khan.

Let’s check the latest picks, Boxing news, stats and Boxing expert picks for Canelo Alvarez vs John Ryder. We’ve plenty of Boxing predictions for you to consider.

On the other hand, Ryder, a southpaw hailing from London, has a record of 32-5, with 18 knockouts. Although he has given a good account of himself in matches against stronger opponents, he generally falls short of victory. Despite being slightly taller and having a longer reach than Alvarez, he has average power. Ryder has won several titles, including the WBO Inter-Continental Middleweight Title and the IBF International Super Middleweight Title, and has defeated fighters such as Patrick Nielsen and Jamie Cox.

Canelo will have one of the best chances to win the fight and with the motivation of being in his country. This will be an excellent fight between both fighters whose quality and technique are among the best in world boxing, however, the oddsmakers are giving Saul “Canelo” Alvarez as the favorite.
