On Saturday, May 6th, the WBC Flyweight Champion Julio Cesar Martinez from Mexico will defend his title against Panama’s Ronal Batista in a 12-round fight. The bout is part of the undercard for the Canelo Alvarez vs John Ryder showdown. Martinez’s last fight was in December, where he won by majority decision against Samuel Carmona. Batista, on the other hand, has a record of 15-2 with 9 knockouts. He is relatively unknown and has only fought once outside of Panama. He won the IBA Super Flyweight Title in 2018, but his bid for the vacant WBA Gold World Super Flyweight Title in December 2019 was unsuccessful.
