Picks & Predictions: Pacheco vs Coceres 11/18/2023

Game Preview

Fight Preview

Diego Pacheco appears poised for an outstanding year. This 22-year-old American super middleweight has already competed in Liverpool and Monterrey as part of his journey up through the ranks, prompting Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn to predict future world title challenger status for him. On November 18th in Los Angeles he will defend both WBO International and USWBC super middleweight belts against Marcelo Coceres during an online stream event hosted by DAZN. The fight will take place at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California.

Pacheco has won all his fights via stoppage to date and was in outstanding form last July when he knocked out Manuel Gallegos in four rounds. Additionally, in March he traveled to England where he defeated Jack Cullen before in June he displayed outstanding boxing skills to dispatch with an unconvincing opponent from Monterrey.

Coceres boasts 32 wins and 18 losses on his record and has previously competed for multiple world titles over his 11 year professional career. Notable opponents that Coceres has faced include Billy Joe Saunders, Edgar Berlanga Erik Bazinyan Meiirim Nursultanov.

On Wednesday, two fighters held their final pre-fight press conference before their showdown and stood face-to-face while speaking about it. Both fighters smiled widely as they addressed media members about each other as they spoke highly of one another before their clash.

Pacheco will fight in his hometown of Los Angeles and is eager to face off with an experienced opponent who understands what it takes to win a fight. He believes his rise through the ranks will eventually take him all the way to world champion status.

Pacheco currently ranks ninth on The Sporting News’s list of 25 emerging stars and facing Coceres is an ideal way to assess his own career status at this moment. More importantly, Coceres hopes that winning will serve as proof that he possesses what it takes to become the next Argentinian superstar.
