Trevor McCumby Analysis: He has an impressive 75% knockout ratio
With a record of 28-0-0, McCumby is still unbeaten, but unlike Plant, he hasn’t yet faced the best opponents. He did, however, have 95 professional boxing rounds under his belt since turning pro as a teenager back in 2010. As an amateur, McCumby even advanced to the semifinals of the 2009 USA Junior National Championship. McCumby, the eighth-ranked super middleweight, has defeated Vicente Martín Rodríguez, Milton Nunez, Dion Savage, Jessie Nicklow, Felipe Romero, Brian Holstein, Rodolfo Ezequiel Martinez and Donovan George, among others, although he has not faced many high-caliber opponents. All of these, though, don’t appear to provide him much consolation in his struggle against a formidable foe like Plant.
Caleb Plant Analysis: Coming from the 2nd loss in his career
Caleb Plan (22-2-0) is the IBF super middleweight number five. Throughout his career, the man was dominant, ending his fights with strength, accuracy, and style. On February 17, 2018, he faced IBF super middleweight Rogelio Medina, who was ranked No. 2 at the time, in his first significant match. Plant outperformed Medina with his masterful boxing throughout the bout, ultimately winning by unanimous decision. His victory qualified him to face Jose Uzcategui for the title. Plant outperformed Uzcategui, stopping him in the 2nd and 4th rounds on the way to an IBF title triumph via unanimous decision. But in the fourth defense, he squared off against Canelo Alvarez. He lost the fight via technical knockout in the eleventh round. Plant pulled out one of the most impressive comebacks against Anthony Dirrell following the loss of both his first fight and his belt. This, however, was short-lived as David Benavidez beat Plant by unanimous decision in the very following battle.
