On Saturday, April 8th, unbeaten former WBO and WBC Jr. Lightweight Champion Shakur Stevenson will face undefeated Shuichiro Yoshino of Japan in Stevenson’s hometown of Newark, New Jersey in a WBC Lightweight Title eliminator.
 
Stevenson last fought in September, when he won a majority decision over Robson Conceicao but was stripped of his WBO and WBC Junior Lightweight belts after failing to make weight. Stevenson won the WBO title in October and the WBC title last April when he defeated Oscar Valdez by unanimous decision. Yoshino last fought in November, when he defeated Masayoshi Nakatini in the sixth round to defend his WBO Asia Pacific Lightweight Title.
 
Stevenson, 25, is a southpaw who enters the competition with a perfect record of 19-0 with 9 K’s. He had an outstanding amateur career, winning the USA Junior National Championship and the World Junior Championship in 2013. The next year, he won the USA Youth Nationals, the Youth Olympic Games, and the World Youth Championships. In 2015, he won the USA Youth National Championship as well as the Olympic trials and qualifiers.
