Fight Preview

After a long wait, former world champions Tevin Farmer and Mickey Bey will finally square off in a 10-round lightweight bout on Friday. The fight will take place at the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott, Arizona. The show had to be rescheduled after the event was moved from Ghana to Dubai.

Tevin Farmer, the 31-year-old who was born and raised in Philadelphia has a record of 30-5-1 with six knockouts. On August 3, 2018, he won the IBF Super Featherweight title with a 12-round unanimous decision over former world champion Billy Dib. He went on to make four successful defenses over James Tennyson, Francisco Fonseca, Jono Carroll and Guillaume Frenois.

Farmer has gone through one of the weirdest career collapses in recent years, all without stepping into the ring in more than 2 and a half years. He was a strong contender at 130, to the point where he was considered one of the toughest tests out there for Gervonta Davis. He ended up losing his IBF title to JoJo Diaz after injuring his right hand in the first round.

Farmer is now really motivated by the new faces of the division, a win against Mickey Bey provides him a chance to get in the ring with the likes of Ryan Garcia, Tank Davis and Devin Haney.

On the other side of the ring we have Mickey Bey. The 39-year-old from Cleveland, Ohio, is 23-3-1 with 11 knockouts. A ring veteran of 17 years, Bey won the IBF Lightweight title with a 12-round split decision over Miguel Vazquez on September 13, 2014 in Las Vegas.

In his last fight, Bey lost a split decision to current undisputed lightweight champion George Kambosos on December 14, 2019 in New York. That is one of the main reasons why Mickey Bey is considered the underdog heading into this fight.
