Fight Preview
Tim Tszyu, who is undefeated, will have support from his local crowd this Saturday night when he competes against Tony Harrison for the interim WBO interim 154-lb title at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena.
This key fight event for both contenders will be piped in on Showtime in the U.S at 10:45 p.m. ET, allowing American boxer Harrison (29-3-1, 21 KOs) to acquire some exposure and a chance to put himself in a position to confront four-belt 154-lb champion Jermell Charlo in a trilogy battle.
Prior to their two fights, Harrison and Jermell acted as a comedic duo in their news conferences. It would be fantastic for boxing fans and the sport overall if Tony defeats Tszyu on Saturday so that we can see him and Jermell throwing jabs once more. The way Harrison got into Charlo’s head with his trash-talking was amazing.
Let’s check the latest picks, Boxing news, stats and Boxing expert picks for Tszyu vs Harrison. We’ve plenty of Boxing predictions for you to consider.
Last month, the undisputed 154-pound champion Charlo was supposed to face the 28-year-old Tszyu for his titles, but the champion was forced to withdraw due to a fractured left hand.
Charlo’s hand injury was likely to keep him out of the ring until June or July, so Tszyu opted to stay active rather than wait another five or six months on the sidelines. Tszyu last competed against Terrell Gausha in March of last year, so it’s critical for him to get back in the ring as quickly as possible to shake off the rust.
With a 12-round unanimous decision victory over the previously unbeaten Texas native, Harrison beat Jermell in 2018. Harrison made the error of slugging with Charlo in their rematch a year later in December 2019, paying the price by being knocked out in the 11th round.
In comparison to Tszyu, Harrison has faced tougher competition throughout the course of his twelve-year professional career, but he hasn’t accomplished much since his second bout with Charlo.
