Fight Preview

On Saturday, heavyweight prospect Tony Yoka of France and former Olympic gold medalist Carlos Takam of Cameroon square off. Yoka last competed in May, losing a 10-round unanimous decision to Martin Bakole, while Takam’s most recent bout was a 10-round unanimous defeat to Arslanbek Makhmudov in September.

The 30-year-old Yoka has mostly remained unnoticed since becoming pro in 2017, but his 11-1 record with 9 knockouts thus far in the ring speaks for itself. He competed in the London Olympics of 2012 before defeating Joe Joyce of England to win the super heavyweight gold medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016.

On his path to winning the gold medal at the World Amateur Championships in Qatar in 2015, Yoka also defeated Joyce and Hrgovic. Yoka was unquestionably a good amateur, but his pro career has only seen him compete in 71 rounds against opponents of average caliber. His lack of rounds is due to the fact that, other than Bakole, Jonathan Rice, and Christian Hammer, he has stopped everyone he has faced.

Let’s check the latest picks, Boxing news, stats and Boxing expert picks for Yoka vs Takam: Analysis & Picks 3/11/2023. We’ve plenty of Boxing predictions for you to consider.

Takam, who is 42 years old, spent some time fighting outside of France but now resides in America. He gained notoriety in October 2017 after Anthony Joshua defeated him in ten rounds while attempting to wrestle the WBA, IBF, and IBO heavyweight championships from him. In his subsequent fight, which took place nine months later for the vacant WBA International Heavyweight Championship, Dereck Chisora stopped him in the eighth round.

He also had a strong amateur career, boxing for Greece at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and taking part in a number of important competitions in Africa. Takam gives up six inches in height to Yoka, who is only 1.5 inches shorter than him and has an 80.5-inch reach. Takam is just over 6 feet 1 inches tall. Takam also has decent power, with a current knockout percentage of 59.6% and 28 of his 39 victories coming by way of stoppage.
