To Win Bundesliga Without Bayern Munich
Bayern got knocked out of the Champions League by La Liga’s Villareal, defeated by Bochum in the league, didn’t get to win any of their finals 3 games of the season, and recently lost their superstart striker Robert Lewandowski this summer, and somehow they are still -500 favorites to win the Bundesliga for an 11th straight season, that’s just how dominant this team is.
That’s why it feels like we are forced to exclude Bayern when it comes to predicting the winner of the 2022-23 Bundesliga season. Not a single team has come that close to Bayern over the last 10 years, and if they do, Bayern doesn’t waste time and acquires their best players. Unless something really extraordinary happens, we don’t see Bayern’s odds worsen throughout the season.
The team that looks the strongest right behind Bayern is Borussia Dortmund, they are the ones that finished last season 8 points back of Bayern. For this upcoming season, Karim Adeyemi has been signed from RB Salzburg, but the 20-year old striker has huge shoes to fill. During the off-season, Dortmund lost Erling Halaand to Man City, and we can’t deny it was a huge hit to the team.
Adeyemi and Schlotterbeck are both extremely good players, and the best thing for Dortmund is that they are both young too, 20 and 22 years respectively. Dortmund has a great opportunity to keep growing with these two players. Edin Terzić has a huge challenge in front of him, but if he ends up developing Adeyemi the best way possible, he might end up being the next top Bundesliga scorer.
Borussia Dortmund won Bundesliga two seasons in a row back in 2011-2012. This season is looking rough for every team other than Bayern, but this might be a good chance for some teams like Dortmund to start building up new players and maybe looking to sell their talent a couple of years down the line.
