La Liga 2023/24 Season Futures: La Liga Top 4

La Liga Top 4

By far, Real Madrid is the favorite to win La Liga in 2023–2024, but we can talk about the teams who will be looking to secure a top four finish. Despite being heavily linked to the Brazil manager’s position, Carlo Ancelotti is still in charge, and Madrid has added Jude Bellingham to their roster this summer. Barcelona has aspirations of winning La Liga. This time around, the Blaugrana are eager to perform far better in European play, but they won’t ignore the league.

The most successful soccer team in Spanish history is Real Madrid. The capital city’s team has taken home nine more championships than any other group. But during the past 20 years, Barcelona has started to catch up with them. With 11 championships to Madrid’s eight, the Blaugrana have indeed been the most successful team of the 2000s. Atletico Madrid continues to lag behind the two major players.

Over the past ten years, Atletico Madrid has grown to be the third force in Spanish soccer and has won two championships. Could they make a second claim in 2023–2024? Don’t disregard them. For teams like Sevilla, Real Sociedad, Real Betis, Villarreal, and Athletic Bilbao, it would come as a great surprise if they finished first, but a top four finish is more than possible.

Since taking over in December 2011, Diego Simeone has done nothing less than an excellent job for Atletico; other than the season they finished in fifth place, they have never finished lower than third in the standings. With Kondogbia being the greatest departure, along with mostly squad or backup players like Reguilón and Doherty, their squad will still be strong this season. With Söyüncü and Azpilicueta among the group arriving, they had a good summer.

Simeone’s team, however, will focus more on a strong, merciless, unwavering commitment in defense and playing on the counter-attack. It is all about the system and the sum of the parts rather than playing free-flowing offensive football. Don’t rule them out this season, especially if a revitalized Real Madrid takes some time to gel and/or prioritizes the Champions League. Barcelona, meanwhile, will lose their current stars at any time if their financial difficulties persist.
