La Liga Winner
In the previous season, Barcelona won the league title for the 27th time and that triumph was achieved despite Barcelona’s off-field financial issues. Following Real Madrid’s victory the season before, the club and manager Xavi were able to consistently bring in elite signings that led to them winning La Liga last season.
Due to their aforementioned financial difficulties, expect some of their fringe players to go as well, maybe making room for one or two more squad additions. Although this is a far cry from the “vintage” Barcelona teams of the 2010s, they are no pushovers and this season in La Liga will probably be in a league of their own with Real Madrid.

Real Madrid has lost some notable players, including Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema, Mariano Diaz, and Marco Asensio. Since leaving for the Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad, Benzema won’t be part of the squad for the first time since 2008/09. The French striker, who was the club’s star for 14 years, won 25 titles. Additionally, it will be the first time since 2015–16 that Real Madrid will play without Marco Asensio.
However, with the addition of Jude Bellingham and the purchase of Arda Güler, Real Madrid is in excellent form going into the 2018 La Liga season. They also have the return of Brahim Diaz, Fran Garcia, and Joselu. More additions are anticipated, including one Kylian Mbappé who is speculated to come this summer.
