The Arizona Diamondbacks are having a really rough time against the Los Angeles Dodgers in their four-game series as they haven’t been able to secure a single victory yet, and not only that, if we look at the overall score it’s heavily in favor of the Dodgers (24-13). All the Diamondbacks want is to avoid a four-game sweep by the Dodgers and prevent their 5-game lose streak from extending.
The Dodgers are currently one of the best teams in the league, so it isn’t that surprising to see them completely dominate the Diamondbacks, although the Dodgers arrived into this series having dropped their last two sets to the Pirates and the Phillies. But maybe all they needed to get back on track was to win a couple of games against the Diamondbacks.
Zach Davies will get the start for the Diamondbacks, and although his numbers don’t look that bad at 3.57 ERA this season and a 3.89 FIP over seven starts this year, Davies performs considerably worse on the road and his 5.12 FIP while away shows this. Thankfully for them, their offense has been performing pretty good on the road, they have a 102 team wRC+ against right-handed pitchers, which is of much importance against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will send out Walker Buehler as their starting pitcher, who has consistently been a dominant home pitcher, but for whatever reason he just can’t seem to get it together on his home field this season. He carries a 4.35 ERA and a 4.35 FIP over four home starts.
This might be the golden opportunity for the Diamondbacks to take over a game against the Dodgers, it’s all going to boil down to the performance of both offenses because it’s safe to say that both pitchers come into this game with very clear vulnerabilities. Even if the teams don’t perform their best, we can be sure that we’ll see a lot of runs in this game.
