The Boston Red Sox will try to sweep the Los Angeles Angels in their four-game series at Angel Stadium and extend the Angel’s losing streak to 14 games. The Angels find themselves in one of the worst current streaks we’ve seen from them in the history of the team, and although we’ll be seeing Shohei Ohtani on the mound, it’s still going to be a very tough challenge for them to overcome the Red Sox.
On June 7, as the team reached a 12-game losing streak, Los Angeles Angels’ manager Joe Maddon was fired by the Angels with hopes of turning things around. Although the Angels scored another loss after his departure, fans are still hoping that the Angels have a better future ahead of them.
Nick Pivetta will be the starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox trying to close out the series with a 4-0 victory over the Angels. This is Pivetta’s 12th start this season, he is sitting on a 5-4 record with a 3.50 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP over 61 innings pitched. He picked up his last win on Saturday against the Oakland Athletics, Pivetta allowed only 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7 and not giving up a single run to the A’s, which should give him enough confidence coming into this game.
Trying to turn things around for the Los Angeles Angels, Shohei Ohtani will be making his 10th start of the season. He’s currently on a 3-4 record with a 3.99 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP over 47 innings. He got blasted in his most recent pitching stint as he gave up four runs, three of those were home runs. Ohtani needs to heavily step up if he wants to turn things around for his team as they are extremely desperate for a win.
