Tomorrow the Chicago White Sox will take a trip to the Yankee Stadium to open up their three-game series against the New York Yankees, making it the second straight weekend these two teams will be playing against each other. New York took 3 out of the 4 games last weekend with a total aggregate of 32-15 against the White Sox.
The New York Yankees pitching has been one of the best in the entire league by far throughout the season as New York’s 2.86 ERA ranks 2nd in the league, being one of the main reasons for their dominant victories.
To open things up, the Chicago White Sox will send out Dallas Keuchel as their starting pitcher. The 34-years-old player from Tulsa, Oklahoma, is carrying a 5.54 ERA and a 1.96 through 26 innings pitched across 6 stars. The most important thing about Keuchel coming into this match is that he pitched 5 scoreless innings against New York Saturday in his last start, but it’s safe to say that he isn’t going to have it easy this time.
On the other side, left-handed pitcher Nestor Cortes will start the game for the Yankees, who currently holds an impressive 2-1 record with a 1.35 ERA and 0.85 WHIP through 40 innings pitched over 7 starts. There is no doubt about Cortes being one of the best pitchers the Yankees have to offer, and against the White Sox he allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 8 IP against on Sunday.
There is one thing looking great for the White Sox in this game, they are at their best against lefty pitching, and the expected right lean of their lineup plays into the lesser splits of the Yankee bullpen. It wouldn’t be crazy for the White Sox to take over this first game of the series, although we all know that the Yankees are the biggest threat to the competition right now.
