Cleveland Guardians vs Colorado Rockies: Picks & Predictions 6/14/2022

Game Preview

The Cleveland Guardians will be on a 9-game road trip, beginning today as they’ll be traveling to Coors Field to play the 1st of a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies. These two teams haven’t played against each other in quite a while, the 2017 season being the last one where they faced off. The Rockies are leading the all-time series 13-12, including a 9-2 mark at home, which might make them feel confident for this game.

There is one thing going the Guardians’ way, and that is that they come off after a recent 3-1 series win against the Oakland Athletics. They also have won 10 out of their last 13 games, which is one of the best forms we’ve seen from this team. Even if playing at Coors Field might look a bit threatening to the Guardians, they are looking good enough to score a win over the Rockies today.

On the other hand, the Rockies are carrying a 27-34 overall record, which is considerably worse when compared to the Guardians. The thing is that they are playing in one of the most competitive divisions in the National League. Even if they are sitting on a 27-34 record, the Rockies own the best record among last place teams in baseball’s six divisions. Colorado has to overcome teams like the Dodgers, Padres and Giants, who are all strong playoff contenders.

Cleveland will be sending out Shane Bieber as their starting pitcher, who is making his 12th start this season. Bieber is on a 3-3 record with a 2.91 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP over 65 innings pitched this season. He was last seen on the mound on Wednesday, when the Guardians faced the Texas Rangers, he allowed 3 hits and struck out 6 over 4.1 scoreless innings. Bieber has been looking great as he’s allowed only 6 runs across his last 32.1 innings pitched.

Antonio Senzatela will be opening things up for the Colorado Rockies, who is 2-3 with a 4.83 ERA and a 1.85 WHIP over 41 innings pitched this season. On his 9th appearance, Senzatela didn’t factor into the decision against the San Francisco Giants, when he allowed 1 run on 6 hits and 1 walk over 6 innings. While his numbers aren’t the best in the league, Senzatela will try to prove his worth against a Guardians team that is currently in great form.
