Game Preview

The Kansas City Royals will try to come back into the series as they took a 6-2 loss against the San Francisco Giants yesterday at Oracle Park. The Giants were limited to five hits but drew a season-high 9 walks, 4 of which scored, they are also on a 4-game win streak and currently have an 18-13 record at home and a 34-26 record overall, which could be threatening for the Royals in this second encounter.

While Kansas City is 8-19 in road games and 20-40 overall, their offense isn’t looking that bad as they are ranked 8th in team batting average in the AL at .239. The main culprit for this is Salvador Perez, who leads the offense with nine home runs while slugging .419, and hopefully for the Royals, he’ll be able to perform up to the expectations today.

Kris Bubic will try to stop the San Francisco Giants from getting their 5th win in a row as he’ll be the starting pitcher for the Kansas City Royals. He is making his 8th start while looking to pick up his first win this season as he’s on an 0-3 record so far.

Bubic is holding a questionable 9.13 ERA and a 2.03 WHIP over 22.2 innings pitched. His ERA is the best indicator on why he hasn’t been able to pick up a single win yet, and throwing against the Giants won’t be easy.

The San Francisco Giants will send out Logan Webb as their starting pitcher, who is making his 13th start of the season. Webb’s numbers look much better as he is on a 5-2 record with a 3.77 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP over 71.2 innings pitched.

The 25-year-old right-handed pitcher picked up his 2nd loss against the Colorado Rockies, after he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk across 5.2 innings. Though he’s been a competitive pitcher in the league, Webb needs to solidify his form as he’s been unimpressive in his last outings.
