Game Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers will take a trip to Nationals Park to start their three-game series against the Washington Nationals. Boone’s men come into this match after a disappointing 4-3 loss against the Phillies, but they are still at the top of the National League standings with a 27-13 record, which is quite the opposite compared to the Washington Nationals who are holding a 14-28 record and are the penultimate team in the standings.

Joan Adon will be the starting pitcher for the Washington Nationals and this will be his 9th start of the season. He is 1-7 with a 6.38 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings pitched, while giving up a batting average of .261 to the opposite batters. He will face a Dodgers offense that ranks first in the league with 217 total runs scored while batting .246 as a squad. His opponent has a collective .415 slugging percentage (third in the league) and has hit a total of 44 home runs (eighth in the league). It’s very clear that Joan Adon will have a very tough time against the Dodgers offense.

On the other hand, the Los Angeles Dodgers will send out Tyler Anderson as their starting pitcher who is carrying a flawless 4-0 record and an ERA of 4.04, a 6.8 strikeout-to-walk ratio and a WHIP of 1.093, which already makes the Dodgers look better than their counterpart in this game. The left-handed pitcher gave up two runs in seven innings pitched on Wednesday in his last outing, a matchup with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Washington Nationals have to face one of the strongest teams in the whole league, and if we just look at the stats, the Nationals are clearly not doing well when it comes to both batting and pitching. They’ll have to put up their best performance if they want to have a chance against the Dodgers.
