The Arizona Diamondbacks are taking their claim to get out of the last place in the NL West division as serious as ever as they get ready to welcome the Miami Marlins for their second game of their series this week. If the Diamondbacks were a little bit better both on hitting and pitching, they would probably be fighting for one of the premier spots in the AL West division. Being in last place right now, but with a 16-14 record automatically puts them above many other teams in other divisions that are in higher spots but with losing records. That just goes to prove two things, just how competitive the AL West division is and also how under-appreciated Arizona can come off at times.
This team has solid hitters and run makers in Daulton Varsho and Christian Walker for example and their pitching department, led by Merrill Kelly and with the help of a bonafide stud on the mound like Madison Bumgarner definitely make this team out to be way better than what they show at times. In the place they are right now and with Colorado at arm’s reach, a win against Miami, which seems very easily obtainable today will surely work wonders for Arizona so expect some great pitching from Bumgarner and very high chances of a win here for the Dbacks.
Miami is on the verge of becoming the next Cincinnati Reds if they don’t start picking up the pace. Ok, no, that was harsh and kind of extremist, but now that the Reds are winning and Miami continues losing, it’s becoming more and more evident that something is just not clicking for Miami. While for a small part of the season they were arguably one of the hottest teams around, now they don’t really seem to cause any fuzz, which is strange considering that their roster is full with some very talented hitters and pitchers. For now, what Miami can do is pray that pitcher Jesus Luzardo has a great outing today against Arizona and that they can scrape out enough runs to squeeze a win on the road.
