Miami Marlins vs Philadelphia Phillies: Predictions & Odds 6/13/2022

June 13, 2022

Game Preview

The Philadelphia Phillies will host a three-game series against the Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park, where both teams will try to start new winning streaks. The Phillies were recently on a 9-game winning streak but the Arizona Diamondbacks snapped it with a dominating 13-1 win over them. On the other hand, the Miami Marlins lost to the Houston Astros, ending their 5-game winning streak.

We’ve seen the Philadelphia Phillies hitters have a lot of success as of recently, scoring at least 5 runs in 7 out of 10 games in June, with Bryce Harper leading the pack with a .371 on-base percentage. Miami scores the 10th most runs per game, but today, they’ll be without their top hitter Garret Cooper, who was placed on the injured list this past weekend.

The Miami Marlins will try to put a stop to the Phillies offense by sending out Sandy Alcantara as their starting pitcher, making this his 13th start of the season. Alcantara holds a 6-2 record with a 1.61 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP over 83.2 innings pitched. The 26-year-old right handed pitcher was last seen on Wednesday, when the Marlins scored a 2-1 win over the Washington Nationals. He allowed 6 hits over 9 scoreless innings while striking out 6 without a single walk.

Aaron Nola will be making his 13th start as he’ll be opening things up for the Philadelphia Phillies today. He is holding a 4-4 record with a 3.50 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP over 74.2 innings pitched. The 29-year-old righty has won his last three starts with a 2.42 ERA throughout those games. He pitched 8 shutout innings last Tuesday to beat the Milwaukee Brewers, giving up 4 hits while striking out 6 without a single walk.

The Marlins should be feeling confident in this game as Alcantara has won 6 out of 10 games against the Phillies. He is 4-1 with a 1.84 ERA in 5 starts at Citizens Bank Park, and this season he’s been outstanding in 7 outings with a 4-1 record and 1.10 ERA on the road.
