Milwaukee Brewers vs St. Louis Cardinals: Picks & Predictions 5/26/2022

Game Preview

The Milwaukee Brewers will take a trip to Busch Stadium to open up their three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Brewers come off from a recent 2-1 victory against the San Diego Padres, with Luis Perdomo picking up the win after pitching 1⅓ innings without giving up a single run on one hit, while Andrew McCutchen gave the Brewers the lead by going 2-for-3. On the other hand, the Cardinals took a loss against the Toronto Blue Jays, which ended their 4-game win streak.

To start the game, the St. Louis Cardinals will send out Adam Wainwright as their starting pitcher, who holds a 5-3 record. Waino is carrying a 2.87 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP, which are quite impressive considering that right now he is one of the oldest pitchers in the league. The last time we saw Waino was Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, when he gave up one run in 7⅔ innings pitched. The worrying thing might be that the only time he faced the Brewers this season, he allowed them to go 8-for-21 with two doubles, a triple, a home run and four RBI in 4 1/3 innings, hopefully he is able to put up a better performance today.

The Milwaukee Brewers will use Eric Lauer as their starting pitcher, who has picked up only one loss during the season. Lauer holds a 2.16 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP over 41⅔ innings pitched. He last appeared on Saturday against the Washington Nationals and he picked up the win after throwing for 7⅔ scoreless innings on 5 hits. The scary thing about the Brewers is their offense, they are currently 5th in the home run ranking with 57, averaging 1.3 per game. They score the 7th most runs in the league with a total of 201, averaging 4.6 per game. Wainwright will have to perform up to the expectations if he wants to stand a chance against the Milwaukee Brewers offense.
