New York Mets vs San Diego Padres: Analysis & Preview 6/6/2022

Game Preview

The New York Mets will head to Petco Park to begin a three-game series against the San Diego Padres. The Mets come off after a recent 2-2 split against the Los Angeles Dodgers in their four-game series, but they cannot sleep on their laurels as the San Diego Padres are currently on the rise.

The Padres just recently won three of four games against the Milwaukee Brewers, snapping their three-game losing streak they acquired after facing the St. Louis Cardinals. Now they’ll return home to play versus one of the best teams in the league, making this a very exciting matchup to watch.

Blake Snell will be opening up the game for the San Diego Padres, making his 4th appearance this season. The 29-year-old is currently on a winless record with 2 losses, he holds a 4.80 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP over 15 innings pitched. Snell’s numbers aren’t looking that great, and he was last seen in Tuesday’s loss against the Cardinals, where he allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks. He didn’t factor into the decision, but it was the best start we’ve seen from him so far this season, though he’ll have to put up a much better performance if he wants to score a win against the Mets.

Making his 11th start of the season, Carlos Carrasco will be the starting pitcher for the New York Mets. He is on a whopping 6-1 record while holding a 3.63 ERA, and a 1.21 WHIP over 57 innings pitched. Carrasco picked up a win during his last appearance against the Washington Nationals.

He allowed 4 hits and 5 walks, but the Nationals were unable to score a single run against him. Although having to face the San Diego Padres is a much tougher matchup, it’s safe to say that Carrasco is more than capable of handling their offense.
