The Oakland Athletics will meet with the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park for their third and last game of their series. The A’s couldn’t score a win on Monday, putting them in an uncomfortable position on the road, but yesterday, they were able to bounce back from their defeat. 28-year-old Paul Blackburn will be the one starting for the Oakland Athletics. We last saw him on the field last Friday against the Los Angeles Angels, when he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks throughout 94 pitches over the 4 innings he pitched in.
Robbie Ray will be opening up the game for the Seattle Marines like he did last Friday. Ray holds a 4-4 record with a shaky 4.77 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. In his last game against the Boston Red Sox, Ray gave away 4 runs during the 3rd inning as Trevor Story hit a grand slam. The 30-year-old left handed pitcher has now allowed a home run in four straight starts. If the Mariners want to be able to contain the A’s offense then Robbie Ray will have to step up considerably in this upcoming game.
Luckily for the Seattle Marines, the A’s offense hasn’t been too hot as of lately. They rank last in the league when it comes to batting average with a .211 and with only 28 home runs this season they rank 28th. One of the most interesting things about the A’s is that they are really far from being the team with least runs scored, with 49 more runs than the last-place team Detroit Tigers, although they have 23 less than the Seattle Mariners.
