The Cleveland Guardians are apparently over the slump that saw them go through some very hard times in the past weeks. Remember that slump? Yes, the slump in which they lost seven games in a row and where everything seemed like it could only get worse before getting better. But now, after winning five of their last seven games, the Guardians are out sporting a whole new outlook towards the season and they are ready to take the second game of their weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays this afternoon. A superb pitching showdown awaits fans today as Toronto will be sending their leader in strikeouts for the season Kevin Gausman to face righty Shane Beiber who will be looking to make it two wins in a row for Cleveland against the Blue Jays.

It was about time for the Guardians to start playing the style of baseball we have all been waiting to see from them. It seems that their offense is finally in sync with what’s needed from them, with rookie sensation Steven Kwan, who happened to hit his first home run in his career yesterday against Toronto leading the pack alongside hometown favorite Jose Ramirez. But that’s not all, defensively the Guardians are starting to pull together and become a very solid unit, one that can take the game to strong offenses like Toronto’s and San Diego’s who they happened to beat before this series started. So, if anything, it looks like the ship is starting to turn to a way better route for Cleveland.
Of course, the idea of edging out the Blue Jays once again today is a definite must, especially considering that since turning their reality around the Guardians have managed to climb up to the 2nd spot in the AL Central division, with only 2.5 games separating them from taking Minnesota out of the divisional leadership. This is exactly why a strong outing from pitcher Shane Beiber, who will be looking to score his third win of the season will be of pivotal importance for Cleveland today.
The Blue Jays on the other hand are looking to not allow both Cleveland to win again but more importantly to not allow Tampa Bay to get too comfortable in the 2nd spot of the AL East division. After losing two out of three games against the Yankees earlier in the week, last night’s loss against Cleveland didn’t exactly sit very well for the Jays, which is why today it’s go time for Toronto’s offense and especially for pitcher Kevin Gausman. This will be the first time since 2018 that Gausman faces Cleveland, so why not celebrate it with a win? Of course though, Gausman will be needing some great help from Toronto’s offense, but if the offense doesn’t put up on their end of the deal, beating the Guardians might become a harder task than expected.
