The Belmont Stakes is the final jewel of the Triple Crown. Saturday’s 1 1/2 miles Test of The Champion drew a field of 8.
There are a handful of contenders.
Kentucky Derby stunner Rich Strike is back but you won’t get 80-1 on him here.
He is 7-2 on the morning line and his connections believe they have a fit and ready horse.
He will be tested by the likes of We The People, who is 2-1 from post 1. We The People is off an impressive win and figures to be a handful.
Others that need to be figured are Wood Memorial winner Mo Donegal, who likes to race over New York tracks, Creative Minister, who will need to step up to show he is championship material, and the filly Nest.
Taking on the boys is a tough task but it is not implausible. If you like Nest, she is a tidy 8-1 on the morning line.
