2022 Wimbledon Men’s Finals: Analysis & Preview 7/08/2022

Game Preview

The Wimbledon fortnight comes to a conclusion on Sunday July 10 with the men’s singles final. And what a final it should be featuring colorful and controversial players on both sides of the grass court at the All England Club.

One finalist is no surprise as Novak Djokovic is the top seed and looks to capture his fourth straight Wimbledon championship. This would be his seventh title at Wimbledon if he can down Nick Kyrgios.

Kyrgios is looking for his first Grand Slam title. He is fiery and emotional and prone to losing his temper. Will Kyrgios be able to keep it together on the grandest stage of tennis or will he be his own worst enemy?

Djokovic made it to the final with a four-set win Friday in the semis over Cameron Norrie. He dropped the first set before pulling things together and rolling in the next three.

Kyrgios had no problems in his semifinal because he won in a walkover. Kyrgios was supposed to play Rafael Nadal but the Spaniard was unable to go due to a torn abdominal muscle. That sent Kyrgios directly into the final.

This will surprise many but Kyrgios has defeated Djokovic in both of their matches. They happened in 2017 and were on a hard court surface. Kyrgios is one of just three players to boast a 2-0 record over the Serbian.

This is grass and different and could easily see a different result on Sunday.
