The Boston Celtics, off to a 3-0 start, will travel to Chicago to take on the 1-2 Bulls on Monday night. Boston has gotten out of the gates quickly with a home-opening win over Philadelphia followed by a sweep of the state of Florida in wins over the Heat and Magic on the road. The Chicago Bulls, meanwhile, are 1-2 after winning their opener over Miami but then dropping two-straight games. Game time is set for 8:00pm EST.
The Celtics’ slogan for the past few years has been ‘C Us Rise’ as the team’s young lineup continued to develop. Last season, the team rose all the way to the NBA Finals and, if early indications mean anything, they have the look of a team that wants to exceed that this season. The C’s opened the season with a win over Atlantic Division rival Philadelphia by shooting 53% from the field and scoring 127 points. They followed that up with 111 points and 51% shooting over Miami, the team they defeated in the Eastern Conference final.
The Chicago Bulls got things off on the right foot with an upset win over Miami in Miami to start the season while playing without all-star Zach LaVine as well as Lorenzo Ball, who remains out with his own knee injury. Things seemed to have caught up with the Bulls, however, after losing a close game in Washington and then getting blown out on Saturday night at home vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Bulls did welcome back LaVine for the first time this season, scoring 23 points and looking sharp in the process.
Undoubtedly, Boston will throw a bunch of different matchups at DeRozen in the game, from Marcus Smart to Jaylen Brown to Grant Williams. Expect the Celtics’ pace to give the Bulls fits as well. Boston took two out of the three matchups last year and that trend should continue here.
