Game Preview

On Friday night, the Houston Rockets will attempt to snap a seven-game losing streak when they host the Detroit Pistons in a matchup of the NBA’s two worst teams. On Wednesday, Houston finished a five-game road trip with a 123-114 defeat to Brooklyn. Detroit has also dropped seven straight games, most recently to Oklahoma City by one point.

Houston has been the worst team in the Western Conference, but it has not let its work flag as the season has progressed. The Rockets were within five points of Memphis last week and within single digits of Brooklyn on Wednesday, both times clearing the spread. Against the Nets, all five of their starters tallied in double figures, led by Kevin Porter Jr.’s 31 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.

The Pistons have dropped 16 of their previous 17 games and are missing Bojan Bogdanovic, Alec Burks, Isaiah Stewart, and Cade Cunningham. Houston comes into this game in much better shape, having covered the spread in six of its last nine Friday games. In its last seven games, Detroit has only covered the spread twice.
