Two Eastern Conference teams are on the hardwood trying to get back to winning ways as they face off in South Beach. The Detroit Pistons are hitting the road as they make the trip to face the Miami Heat Tuesday night.
The Detroit Pistons played Memphis at home on Sunday in their last outing, being unable to keep up, losing 122-112 as the underdogs. Miami was seen in action on Monday night as they caught that same Grizzlies team on the road so they are closing a back-to-back set here.
Before facing Memphis, the Heat took down the Celtics 120-116 in OT on the road on Friday night. If we take a look at the all-time regular season series between these two teams, Miami owns a 65-56 advantage and took three of the last four meetings during the last season. That includes a 105-98 win in their most recent encounter.
Looking at the Pistons, Isaiah Livers suffered an injury against the Mavericks and is expected to miss some game time according to their coach Dwane Casey. Cunningham also hasn’t played since November 9 and his return date is still unknown as he could require surgery. For today’s game, It’s safe to say that he won’t be seen on the court.
This match is going to be an interesting one as both sides are coming off a loss against Memphis in their previous contest. The Pistons have had their problems with injuries this season and having Cunningham still out of the equation is a huge blow for them.
The first overall pick in last year’s draft has played really good basketball when on the floor, but now that he is missing, it’s a bit of a tougher challenge for the Pistons to be a cohesive unit. Losing Livers is not as big of a blow but it will matter when it comes to shuffling the rotation as he had pushed into the main lineup last month.
