On Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET, the Dallas Mavericks will play the Indiana Pacers at the American Airlines Center. While Indiana is 27-35 overall and 9-20 on the road, the Mavericks are 32-30 overall and 20-11 at home. The Mavs won their most recent encounter in January 2022 by a score of 27 points, and these clubs have split their previous eight games.
Dallas had to accept a 111-108 setback to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday despite a fiercely contested game. Dallas had a 27-point lead at one point and led 61-47 at the half, but it was unable to hold it. Dallas’ leading scorer was point guard Luka Doncic, who finished with 26 points.
When Doncic and recent signing Kyrie Irving are both on the court, the Mavericks are just 1-3. With Dallas, Irving averages 26.2 points, 6.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 50/40/90 percent of the time. Maxi Kleber, a big man who has been out since mid-December with a hamstring injury, is doubtful to play again, but Dallas is 13-9 when he is on the court, compared to 19-21 when he isn’t.
On the other hand, Indiana defeated the Orlando Magic 121-108 on Saturday thanks to more than enough points to win. Numerous important players helped the Pacers to victory, but it was point guard Tyrese Haliburton who stood out by producing a double-double with 15 points and 14 assists.
Indiana sits in the bottom 10 in both points allowed and defensive efficiency, giving up an average of 117.4 points per game, so it hasn’t exactly made a strong defensive statement. Nonetheless, Indiana is seventh in steals per game and third in blocks per game in the NBA. Myles Turner, a center for the Pacers, is fourth in the NBA in blocks per game with 2.3.
