With captain Ja Morant outside of the court, the Memphis Grizzlies will embark on a 3 game road trip at Dallas on Monday night, while looking to continue their current winning streak.
Morant is expected to miss his 5th game due to an off-court incident on March 3rd. It is currently unknown when the young superstar will step foot back on the court, but the authorities announced 5 days later that Morant will not face criminal charges, after their investigation on the situation concluded.
With their leader on the sidelines, Memphis was still able to finish out a 112-108 home victory versus the Mavericks on Saturday, thanks to 25 points from Desmond Bane and a career high 24 points from rookie David Roddy.
This was the 1st out of 2 games in a tough 3 day schedule for the Grizzlies and Mavericks, who played without Luka Doncic in Saturday’s defeat thanks to a left thigh strain with Kyrie Irving also missing the match due to right foot soreness.
Doncic subbed off in the 3rd quarter of Wednesday’s 113-106 away loss versus New Orleans after grabbing 15 points plus 8 assists. Medical studies on Doncic’s left thigh showed no damage ,however he is listed as questionable going into this matchup.

After 41 minutes of playtime against the Pelicans, the medical staff decided Irving was not ready to play against the Grizzlies. Versus New Orleans, he led Dallas in scoring with 27 points and is expected to return after some rest for the rematch against Memphis.
Tyus Jones is set to take Morant’s spot as starting PG, currently averaging 10.1 points and 4.8 assists per game, with Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. becoming the 2 main avenues in offense since Morant’s benching.
As for Dallas, Tim Hardaway Jr. recorded 23 points and 6 rebounds in the loss to Memphis on Saturday, with resurgent youngster Josh Green adding a double-double to his resume. If Doncic and Irving are not fit to play this time around, Hardy, Hardaway and Green will continue to be the main focus in offense for Dallas.
This matchup will all depend on Irving’s availability, however Memphis is coming with momentum and with more offensive options than their counterparts. Thus a Memphis win seems more likely.
