The Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off the upset in Game 4 to tie the NBA Playoffs first-round series against the Memphis Grizzlies 2-2. It was a close one, but at the end, the Timberwolves won 119-118. That was the first time in the series that the winning team didn’t win by 9+ points.
Karl-Anthony Towns finally met expectations by finishing with 33 points, 14 rebounds, and three assists. Regarding the scoreboard, he was followed by Anthony Edwards with 24 points and Patrick Beverley with 17.
However, the biggest surprise was Jordan McLaughlin, who came off the bench and contributed with 16 points. He didn’t play at all in Game 3.
“Every day he steps on the court he makes an impact. It’s normal, it’s routine. We need someone like him, someone who comes off the bench and dominates the game,” Towns said about his teammate.
As for the Grizzlies, Desmond Bane led the way with 34 points, and he was followed by Dillon Brooks with 24. Ja Morant, recently named Most Improve Player, added 11 points and 15 assists.
Now, the series returns to Memphis, where each team already won one game. The Timberwolves won Game 1 (130-117), while the Grizzlies won Game 2 (124-96).
Memphis owns a 31-12 record when playing at home, enough to dominate the NBA odds at -6. The Grizzlies are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games when playing at home against Minnesota.
As for the Moneyline, the home side is offering a -250 price, while the visitors are +210. The Grizzlies are also in control when it comes to straight up victories. They’re 10-4 in the last 14 meetings between the two.
If the Grizzlies want to bounce back, they need Morant’s best version. Fortunately for them, the Point Guard claims to have the solution.
“Most of the times when I go to the rack, I’m getting bumps. I just got to worry about finishing the bucket instead of worrying about the guys with stripes on,” he said.
