NBA Championship

Heading into the 2022-23 season, the Boston Celtics reigned the majority of the odd boards all summer, but after the suspension of head coach Ime Udoka, there has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding the reigning East champions, bringing them slightly back down to earth.

Now, the Golden State Warriors and the Brooklyn Nets, amongst others, are back on track to claim the throne, though we could say that it’s anybody’s crown at this point. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the odds to win the NBA championship.

Boston Celtics (+600)

The Celtics came incredibly close to sealing the deal after pulling off one of the most dramatic midseason turns in NBA history. At the beginning of February, Boston was struggling to clinch a playoff spot, but in the second half of the season they rolled over the competition, taking down all contenders with their formidable defense.

Now, two weeks after they were listed as the favorites, the Celtics have dropped a bit in the standings following the one-year suspension to head coach Ime Udoka for an improper relationship with a colleague. Joe Mazzulla has since been named the team’s interim head coach.

Golden State Warriors (+600)

The defending champions opened next season at the top of the odds board and could enter the season in that space even as they face several key roster decisions.

While Steph Curry is still Steph Curry, and Klay Thompson began to get some of his old rhythm back after two full missed seasons, Draymond Green saw a noticeable decline in the playoffs. Also, they’ve already lost Gary Payton II and Otto Porter, two valuable role players on their title run.

Brooklyn Nets (+700)

Now that Kevin Durant’s temper tantrum is over, the Nets’ long-term outlook suddenly isn’t that awful.

Last season was a nightmare for this franchise, but also a worst-case scenario that possibly cannot be replicated this season, giving their fans hope that the Nets will look much better than they did in 2021-22
