New Orleans Pelicans vs Phoenix Suns: Odds & Analysis 4/26/2022

Game Preview

No Booker, no problem. That’s what the Phoenix Suns would like to say, but it’s not true. The New Orleans Pelicans got a 118-103 victory in Game 4 to tie up the NBA Playoffs first round series to two games per side.

Now, Booker’s absence wasn’t the only reason for the Pelicans to win. Brandon Ingram’s 30 points were also a reason. Jonas Valanciunas’ 26 points and 15 rebounds were also a reason. CJ McCollum’s 18 points were also a reason.

Chris Paul finishing with four points was also a reason. That’s not a typo, the veteran Point Guard did finish with only four points. Deandre Ayton led the way for the Suns with 23 points. Believe it or not, he was followed by JaVale McGee, Shaqtin’ a Fool’s legend, with 14 points.

Last but not least, the difference in free throws attempted was also a reason. The Pelicans shot 42, while the Suns shot 15.

“We can’t worry about whether Book comes back. Obviously, we need Book back, but that’s not why we lost the game. They played much harder than we did,” head coach Monty Williams said.

Williams isn’t wrong. Phoenix needs to return to the formula that led them to a 33-10 record at Footprint Center, where Game 5 will be played.

Booker won’t come back for tonight’s game. Even so, the Suns are the NBA betting favorites by 6½ points. The thing is that they’re 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games when playing as the favorite.

Regarding the total, you might want to consider that it has gone under in eight of New Orleans’ last 11 games on the road. This time, it’s set at 214½ points.

Besides Booker, Dario Saric also remains out for the Suns. As for the Pelicans, no new additions to the injury report, which includes Zion Williamson and Kira Lewis Jr.
