This Friday night we have an interesting game. The New Orleans Pelicans take on the San Antonio Spurs.
The Pelicans will look to extend their winning streak to three. The team has had a very good performance winning three of their last five games. They are coming off wins over the Thunder 105-101 and the Raptors 126-108. The offense is being led by the promising young player, Zion Williamson. Zion is averaging 23 points per game and 6 rebounds. Not to mention the incredible 32 points against the Spurs last week. But it’s not all good news, Brandon Ingram is still not confirmed to play in this game. Still, let’s remember that the Pelicans are coming off a win against Golden State and a 7-3 record. They have one of the best offensive squads.
The Spurs have had a pretty tough season, losing nine straight games. In almost all of these losses you could say they have slaughtered their defense. While the defense is by no means the best, the offense led by Devin Vassell is providing a glimmer of hope. Vassell has scored at least 20 points in three of his last four games. We also have Doug McDermott who scored 21 points in the loss to the Pelicans and Keldon Vassel averaging 20 points per game.
They have not performed well as hosts. Their last home win was against the Bucks (111-93) last November 11. Their defense has allowed at least 120 points per game, which is the main reason for so many losses.
On the other hand, the Pelicans don’t show much performance playing as visitors either. They have lost four of their last five road games. This could turn out to be an interesting game and surprise or we could see how once again the Spurs defense leaves much to be desired.
