Philadelphia 76ers vs Toronto Raptors: Picks & Predcitions 4/28/2022

April 28, 2022

No team in the history of the NBA Playoffs have won a series after losing the first three games. Well, the Toronto Raptors are determined to be the first, but they still need two more victories over the Philadelphia 76ers.

After losing the first three, Toronto won Game 4 (110-102) at home and Game 5 (103-88) on the road. Pascal Siakam led the way in both cases with 34 and 23 points. Precious Achiuwa added 17 points in Game 5. His minutes on the floor have increased considerably since Fred VanVleet’s injury.

“They’re doing a really good job of just finding some things offensively. I think they feel really good down there. We’re generating, for the most part, really good shots and they should feel good about that,” coach Nick Nurse explained.

As for the Sixers, Joel Embiid (thumb) hasn’t been playing at 100 percent. Even so, he led the team in Game 5 with 20 points and 11 rebounds. He was followed by Tobias Harris with 16 points. In other words, Philly needs James Harden to turn it on!

“We definitely have to be better defensively, more connected defensively. But we’re fine. There’s a reason why we won three games in a row,” Embiid said.

The series returns to Toronto for Game 6. The Raptors are 25-18 when playing at Scotiabank Arena. On the other hand, the 76ers are 28-15 when playing on the road.

Philadelphia comes in as the NBA betting favorite by 1½ points. Embiid and company are 42-19 when playing as the favorites. However, they are also 1-6 against the spread in their last seven road games.

Embiid tops the injury report, but no way in hell he misses the game. Charles Bassey (shoulder) was expected to return, but he suffered a setback. Same with VanVleet (hip), who’s officially listed as doubtful.

If Toronto pulls off another upset, they’ll collide again on Saturday at Wells Fargo Center. If not, the 76ers will visit the Miami Heat for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Monday.
