Philadelphia 76ers vs Toronto Raptors: Picks & Predictions 4/20/2022

Game Preview

Led by Joel Embiid and…Tyrese Maxey, the Philadelphia 76ers had no trouble winning the first two games of the series. That’s right, Maxey contributed a lot more than James Harden. At least when it comes to scoring. As for Embiid, he showed, once again, why he deserves to be among the finalists for MVP. A subject on which he didn’t remain silent.
“If it happens, great. If it doesn’t, I don’t know what I have to do. I’ll feel like they hate me. I feel like the standard for guys in Philly or for me is different than everyone else.”
As for the Toronto Raptors, Pascal Siakam is leading the team’s efforts. He finished the two first games with 20+ points.
Now, the NBA Playoffs first-round series moves to Toronto, where the Raptors own a 24-17 record. However, there’s some bad news for the home side as Gary Trent Jr. is questionable and Scottie Barnes has been downgraded to doubtful. Barnes is among the finalists to win Rookie of the Year.
Toronto’s main focus should be on how to stop Embiid. Precious Achiuwa is no match for the big fella. According to head coach Nick Nurse, they also need the referees to do a better job: “If we’re legal defensively, we’ve gotta have a call, or we don’t have a chance. Nobody can guard that guy if they’re gonna let him run you over.”
Last but not least, the bench needs to take a step forward. Only Chris Boucher has had a real impact. He finished Game 2 with 17 points.
Regarding the 76ers, they just need to keep doing what they’ve been doing. Feed Embiid, let Harden run the show (20 assists in first two games), and let Maxey loose.
Matisse Thybulle and Charles Bassey are out for tonight’s game. Without a doubt, the Raptors’ injuries are more significant.
