Game Preview

The Suns arrive amidst a hurricane to the city of Orlando, and not metaphorically. Hurricane Nicole, a category one storm, made its way across the state of Florida this week just before the game.

The Magic are currently showing signs of brilliance but not paired with results, as the 3-9 team led in scoring by their number one overall pick Paulo Banchero will look to make a statement in this game. We will see if he actually is able to play, as he is currently in doubt with a left ankle sprain.

The Suns at 8-3 looked exceptional in their game against the Timberwolves, despite being without the play creation of Chris Paul. They find themselves at 3rd in the Western conference, trailing the resurgent 10-3 Utah Jazz and the 9-3 Portland Trail Blazers.

The first question is whether or not Chris Paul will be playing tonight, as he suffered an injury against the Philadelphia 76ers. Cameron Payne did more than enough to fill the creation hole, scoring 23 points, putting up 8 assists, and having 0 turnovers in the process. It seems that the Suns will hold Paul to one more game of rest, as Cameron Payne has been filling the spot well.

When you look at the way that the Magic post their play, they are coming in with momentum as they recently dealt a blow to the Dallas Mavericks, holding them to only 87 points, this is a team that has a bright future ahead of it. The Jalen Suggs/Franz Wagner backcourt can be quite creative, and if they get better at defending the paint, this could be a base for winning in the future.

What will hurt the Magic in this game is their substitute depth. They have numerous players who will be in street clothes sadly for their coach.

As for our prediction, the Suns’ experience will walk on top of the youthful potential of the Magic, as will the depth of the team. This game may not be pretty, and Orlando will put the Suns in a tough spot. But the stabilizing force that is Devin Booker will ultimately win the battle.
