On Thursday, the Sacramento Kings will visit the Brooklyn Nets, who are currently holding the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference with a 39-30 record. The Kings are ranked third in the Western Conference and have the opportunity to move up to the second spot with Ja Morant’s absence from the Memphis Grizzlies. The Kings beat the Nets by a whopping 32 points in their previous encounter in November.
Despite the Kings’ impressive offensive stats, ranking first in points per game, third in assists, second in field goal percentage, and ninth in 3-point shooting, their defense has not been as strong, ranking 28th in the league by allowing 118.6 points per game. De’Aaron Fox, who averages 25.5 points and 6.2 assists per game, leads the Kings. Damontas Sabonis averages 19 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game, while Kevin Huerter is third on the team with 15.2 points per game. Richaun Holmes’s availability is uncertain.
In contrast, the Nets are trying to maintain their playoff position in the Eastern Conference, with the Miami Heat closely following behind in seventh place. After a 121-107 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, the Nets fell to sixth place behind the New York Knicks.
The Thunder outshot the Nets by 17 in the loss due to a rebounding advantage and Brooklyn’s 17 turnovers. Mikal Bridges led the Thunder with 34 points, while Cam Johnson had 23 points and 9 rebounds, and Spencer Dinwiddie recorded 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 11 assists. The Nets will be seeking to rebound from this loss and secure their playoff spot against the Kings on Thursday night.
Despite losing their last game, the Brooklyn Nets come in as favorites according to the oddsmakers, however, they will have to face a Kings team coming off a win in their last game. This Thursday we will see if the Nets can tie the series between the two teams or if the Kings will increase their lead over the Nets to two games.
