The Wizards will look to battle against the Bulls hosted in Chicago on Wednesday.
The Wizards sadly are still without All Star guard Bradley Beal after he went into the back rooms after 3 minutes of play against the Lakers with a possible hamstring strain.
Even with Beal on the side lines, the Wizards should be able to pull their own. Offensively, he has been decent for the Wizards but not outstanding, as he is currently placed 81st in Points Per Possession.
Kristaps Porzingis, Monte Morris, Corey Kispert, and Kyle Kuzma will be the main top four looking to punish the Bulls defense.
If the Wizards are looking for a repeat win against Chicago, they will need to be physical and aggressive on the paint while looking to cover Derozan’s incredible mid range game.
In Washington’s 102-100 victory over Chicago earlier in the season, the Wizards Defensive Points Per Possession ended at 103.1 pretty decent for the situation.
The principal advantage for the Bulls in this game is that they can out-strength the Wizard’s paint rather easily with KP known as a “flimsy” defender. Chicago is currently 9-14 on the season, but have played by far the toughest schedule of any team in the NBA to this point.
As mentioned above Chicago will look to run into the middle of the floor and score via midrange with Nikola Vucevic’s inside cuts and DeMar Derozan’s jumper, as they could potentially take slowly but surely 2 point advantages.
The Bulls shoot the 2nd most shots in the midrange area, barely behind Atlanta, but the Wizards concede the 4th most in the league from that same area, while defending the paint and deep shot lines pretty well.
Washington’s defensive post normally likes to move opponents to the middle of the floor, which is where the Bulls feel more comfortable.
But the Wizards aren’t getting smothered there. They place top 10 in midrange defending, allowing opponents to shoot just 40.5% from the middle ground.
As such this time around due to the Bulls tough schedule and the Wizards strong momentum, we will lean towards a Washington win.
