An exciting NCAAB encounter is about to happen when the Chattanooga Mocs face off against the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders in a state rivalry clash on Thursday evening. The Mocs managed to pick up a home win against non-DI foe Johnson University in their last outing. Meanwhile, the Blue Raiders scored a road victory against Belmont in their last game.
The Chattanooga Mocs are looking for their sixth win in a row. We can’t deny that it was a bit of a shaky start to their campaign, including a surprising home loss to Lipscomb. That said, they have managed to start piling on the necessary points throughout their current winning streak.
Chattanooga took down Milwaukee of the Horizon League last week prior to a 97-47 blowout home win against Johnson University, though that game had no line. The Mocs’ best wins this season have happened against Murray State and Gardner Webb. They managed to cover in three out of their last four games, which is nothing to scoff at.
Unsurprisingly, Jake Stephens continues to lead the Mocs. The senior center has picked up at least 19 points in six occasions this season so far, including 31 in the recent victory against Milwaukee. Stephens is posting an average of 21.4 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game. Alongside Stephens, Jamal Johnson has picked up 24 points of his own in his last two matches.
Meanwhile, the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders are starting to look like a real team now. They have won five out of their last games with the sole loss in that stretch happening against a considerably strong St. Bonaventure team. The Blue Raiders definitely enjoyed arguably their best wins of the season so far last weekend.
For the Blue Raiders, Deandre Dishman has been a very important player in the lineup. He has recorded at least 13 points in five of their last six games. The senior forward picked up 19 points in a victory against Hofstra in November, and has posted an average of 12.2 points per game along with 5.8 rebounds per game.
