This Tuesday, December 20, Cal Irvine will host Harvard in a college basketball matchup. The Anteaters are coming off a close loss to Santa Clara, while the Crimson also lost to Howard. Hopefully these two teams will be motivated to get back to winning ways and put on a great show.
The Anteaters got off to a strong start, but gradually fell off the pace. They started with a loss to Pepperdine 64-55, then recovered to win 3 in a row, but lost 2 more in a row against San Diego and Fresno. They come into this game after beating South Dakota and losing to Santa Clara. Clearly there is a pattern there that they need to work on. Their offense is not doing bad, being led by DJ Davis with 15 points per game, accompanied by Dawson Baker with another 13 points and Justin Hohn with another 9.
Harvard has also started well this season, although they have also lost games to rivals like Fordham, Louisiana, UMass and most recently Howard. The latter being the worst of all. They are not having good results shooting from the three point line, making 2 point shots their specialty. The offense is led by Chris Ledlum averaging 19 points per game and 8 rebounds, accompanied by Chisom Okpara with another 9 and Sam Silverstein with another 8.
It is worth mentioning that Harvard has not played away from home for a while now and the Anteaters are finally back at home. If they rest well, this could be a key factor in the final outcome of the game. The Anteaters have the advantage in three-point shooting but they are not as good as the Crimson in two-point shooting. I think it will be a very close and entertaining game to watch.
