Game Preview

Few would have anticipated that only one of this year’s two NCAA Tournament Final Fours would feature a team or teams from a big conference, but March Madness has lived up to its name, and that is exactly what is in store for Saturday night.

The No. 4 seed UConn Huskies, champions of the West region, will face the No. 5 seed Miami Hurricanes, champions of the Midwest area, in Game 2.

This is UConn’s sixth Final Four appearance, all since 1999, and Miami’s first. Miami advanced to the Elite 8 for the first time in program history a year ago after winning the ACC regular season championship, and they have gone one step farther this year.

UConn is the only team to have won four or more championships since 1999, and they have a chance to win a fifth. Their last two Sweet 16 appearances have culminated in national titles (2011 and 2014), and we are now well past that point. Only one of their previous five Final Four appearances resulted in a national championship. (2009). They also won the championship in 1999 and 2004.

Let’s check the latest picks, NCAAB news, stats and NCAAB expert picks for Miami vs UConn. We’ve plenty of NCAAB predictions for you to consider.

After annihilating the No. 8 seed Arkansas Razorbacks and the No. 3 seed Gonzaga Bulldogs in the Sweet 16 and Elite 8, respectively, this squad is the hottest in the country, and there is little doubt that they were underseeded entering into March Madness.

They lost five of six and six of eight games following a 14-0 start to the season, finishing in a fourth-place tie in the Big East, but that hard stretch has shown to be an exception. This is a team with top-tier talent.

Of course, in a tournament full of upsets, don’t be surprised to see the highest seeded team fall, especially against a Miami Hurricanes team that is riding high after upsetting the No. 1 seed Houston Cougars and rallying to defeat the No. 2 seed Texas Longhorns.
