The North Dakota Fighting Hawks and the St. Thomas MN Tommies clash on Monday in college basketball action at Schoenecker Arena. North Dakota is 6-7 overall this year. The Hawks managed to take down North Central MN in their last game. As for St. Thomas MN, they are holding a 9-4 record and are coming fresh off a win over Green Bay.
North Dakota started the year at 2-3, then hit a winning streak over Wisconsin-Stout, Utah Tech and CSUF. After losses to Iowa State, Portland, Idaho and Seattle, the Hawks got back on the winning track against North Central MN.
Last Monday against North Central MN, the Hawks led 55-18 at halftime. North Dakota didn’t have issues during the second half, getting a 44-30 run for a 99-48 win. Brady Danielson was the team’s leading scorer with 14 points.
St. Thomas MN, meanwhile, started the year with a 2-2 record. The Tommies edged Troy in the second half. The Tommies beat Troy, Merrimack and Milwaukee before losing to Utah. St. Thomas is 4-1 in its last five games, most recently beating Green Bay.
St. Thomas MN took a 42-24 lead into the second half. The Tommies picked up another 40 points from there in an 82-61 victory. Riley Miller was the team’s best with 19 points in 33 minutes of work.
The Tommies had no trouble against Green Bay in their last outing and are playing well on this current 4-1 streak. St. Thomas MN has scored 76 or more points in all four of their wins during that span and they should score a nice total here as well.
As for North Dakota, they have scored 69 points or more in four of their last six games, so they are also on a pretty solid offensive streak. This game is definitely looking pretty interesting, that’s if both teams play well, but St. Louis might be the better team in the end.
