Penn Quakers vs Missouri Tigers Preview & Analysis 11/11/22

Game Preview

Game Preview

Missouri welcomes Pennsylvania for a non-conference matchup on Friday. The Tigers began their season with a close win over a newcomer to NCAA Division I basketball. The Quakers dropped their first game of the season to Iona. These two teams will tip off at 8 P.M. EST.

The Quakers started off their new season with a 78-50 away loss to Iona on Monday, Nov. 7. Penn was led in scoring by Jordan Dingle. The junior guard finished with 16 points 4-of-14 shooting. He also went 0-for-7 from the 3-point line. He was able to get to the free throw line where he ended with going 8-for-9 from the stripe.

Sophomore guard George Smith scored the second most points for Penn. He finished with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Penn shot only 32.7% from the field and only made 3-of-25 from behind the 3-point line against Iona.

It should’ve been an easy blowout for the Tigers to open their season, but tense times hit Missouri late in their game against Southern Indiana. Missouri defeated the Screaming Eagles 97-91 on Monday, Nov. 7. Southern Indiana never led in their game as Missouri’s lead great too as much as 20 points in the season opener.

Mizzou shot 48% from the field against Southern Indiana. They only had 11 turnovers opposed to the Screaming Eagles’ 22 turnovers. Kobe Brown led the team with 20 points on 9-for-14 shooting. He also hauled in 14 rebounds.

Penn struggled against Iona, they weren’t beaten by the Gaels, they beat themselves. They turned the ball over 18 times and missed 22 3-point shots in their loss. The problems for Penn can be fixed, but only with time. Four days will not be enough and they will struggle against the Tigers in this Friday’s matchup, but a win for Penn is still possible.
