Marquette Analysis: Kam Jones is leading this team

In their last game, the Golden Eagles did not go into overtime like they did on Thursday night. They led for almost the whole forty minutes as they won 79-68. A team that made 53.3% of its three-pointers was led by Kam Jones, who finished with 23 points and 5 assists. Marquette only made eight turnovers with the ball. Kam Jones, a junior guard, has been on a roll lately. In the last 12 games, he has scored in double figures in each of them, including 4 contests where he has scored 30 points or more. He scored thirty points, dished out 9 assists, and pulled down 5 rebounds in last Saturday’s 86-80 victory over Xavier in the regular season finale.

UConn Analysis: Currently on a 6-game winning run

The good news for UConn after their performance on Friday night is that they scored 95 points to overcome an early 7-point deficit. They only turned the ball over ten times while shooting 57.4% from the field (50.0% on threes). When it came to free throws, the Huskies were 22–24. But the defense gave up a 45.5% three-point shooting percentage, just caused 5 errors, and allowed St. John’s to grab 17 offensive rebounds. Overall, the 95-90 victory was satisfactory yet concerning for their defense. Despite playing slowly this season, UConn scored 81.1 points per game to lead the Big East.
