It’s already Thursday, December 29th, we are about to end the year but we have yet to witness another college basketball showdown. The Butler Bulldogs welcome the Providence Friars for a duel at Hinkle Fieldhouse at 6:00 PM EST.
The Bulldogs will try to avoid their third straight loss, while the Friars are coming off a five-game winning streak. Will this be their sixth?
The Bulldogs have not had a good season despite having a better schedule than in past seasons. Now they get to host Providence who is a very good team and comes motivated to get their sixth straight win but this does not intimidate the Friars who are good at playing at home. In their loss to Providence the offense was led by Chuck Harris with 14 points and 3 assists and Jayden Taylor with 5 rebounds. The offense is not bad shooting from the three point line, they should take advantage of this to penetrate the defense and get some points.
The Friars on the other hand are having a very good run and are coming off two wins against strong teams. Now it’s back on the road and they are not worried as they are doing well and will look to keep their winning streak going into the new year.
The offense is led by Bryce Hopkins with his 16.7 points per game, followed by Ed Croswell with 13 and Devin Carter with another 10 points.
Providence plays well on both ends of the court and this season in particular they have focused on improving their defense.
Although I have faith in the Bulldogs I think the Friars will take this game, they are better armed and play better on both sides of the court and if we add to this that the Bulldogs are having injury problems the result is quite clear.
