Over on the BYU side, they played pretty well last season but their campaign ended on a down note. The Cougars went 10-3 overall, behind only Notre Dame among independents. In the Independence Bowl, BYU lost a tough one 31-28 to UAB.
In their 2022 opener versus South Florida, the Cougars scored 28 points in the first quarter alone during a 50-21 victory. QB Jaren Hall managed 261 yards with two TDs and a pick. Christopher Brown led the rushers on 13 carries, 135 yards and one TD.
