Over on the Georgia Southern side, they blew out Morgan State 59-7 in their opener this year, then got by Nebraska 45-42. The Eagles lost to UAB 35-21 the next week, then beat Ball State 34-23 before a 34-30 loss to Coastal Carolina.
In the Georgia State game, Georgia Southern scored in every quarter (and gave up points in every quarter) during a high-flying 41-33 loss. QB Kyle Vantrease had 359 yards and three scores with four picks. Jalen White led the rush on 71 yards and a TD.
They also were burned pretty badly by five turnovers and seven penalties in their loss to Georgia State. There are some positives to take away from the loss, but also plenty to work on, which is why the Dukes might have the upper hand in this matchup.
