The LSU Tigers will take on the Auburn Tigers in a SEC fight on Saturday. LSU picked up a very convincing home victory over New Mexico in their latest game. Meanwhile, Auburn scored an overtime home win against Missouri in their last outing. Also, Auburn picked up a 24-19 road victory against LSU in their meeting last season.
LSU is targeting a fourth consecutive win. They were dealt a narrow 20-19 defeat against Florida State in the season opener and have dominated since. The defense shined in a 30-16 home win against Mississippi State, and they were tabbed 31-point favorites in a 38-0 home win against New Mexico last week. LSU has covered the points in three straight games.
The Tigers have been incredibly dangerous on the ground, mostly because of Daniels and Armoni Goodwin. The sophomore RB recorded 76 yards in the victory against Mississippi State and has registered 199 rushing yards on an average of 5.9 yards per carry. Malik Nabers is dangerous. The sophomore WR made six catches, resulting in 65 receiving yards last week, and has 265 receiving yards on the year. The LSU offense has surpassed 30 points in three games in a row.
Similarly to LSU, Auburn is targeting their fourth victory of the season. They defeated non-FBS foe Mercer followed by a win against San Jose State in the opening two games of the season. The Tigers were two-point dogs in an ugly 41-12 home loss to Penn State two weeks ago. Auburn was labeled 7.5 point favorites in a narrow 17-14 home win against Missouri to begin SEC play last week. The Tigers have yet to cover the spread.
Auburn’s #1 QB T.J. Finley did not play last week due to a shoulder injury. He did practice this week and is questionable. The junior has struggled, logging 431 passing yards and a 1:4 TD to INT ratio. Robby Ashford hasn’t been any better. He only had 127 passing yards last week and has amassed 372 passing yards and a 1:2 TD to INT ratio.
