TCU Horned Frogs vs Texas Longhorns: Picks & Predictions 11/12/2022

November 9, 2022

Game Preview

The two top teams in the Big 12 will face each other on Saturday, November 12th as the TCU Horned Frogs will be looking to continue their incredible campaign against the Texas Longhorns. This game is set to start at 7:30 PM ET at the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin.

TCU has moved up to 4th place in the nation after beating Texas Tech in their last bout, 34-24. 18th place Texas meanwhile took down a strong Kansas State squad behind a huge performance from superstar running back Bijan Robinson, who absolutely demolished the Wildcats’ defense.

The Horned Frogs not only have their unbeaten record on the line for this game, but they can grab the top spot in the Big 12 with a victory. Quarterback Max Duggan threw for 195 yards with 2 touchdowns, with Taye Barber leading the team with three catches for 62 yards. However, top target Quentin Johnston was sadly on the sidelines due to an ankle injury. It’s unknown if he’ll be ready to go for this game. This TCU pass offense has destroyed every single team all year long and Johnston just puts them over the top if he is able to play.

To be fair, TCU is just a better team than Texas this season. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean they can’t win under the right circumstances. The atmosphere in Austin for home games is definitely feared by all teams in the league and it could put the visitors under serious pressure. The Longhorns fans need to bring the energy in a big way on Saturday, to help their team.

While in the air, Texas struggled to get anything going last weekend against K-State, as Quinn Ewers had just 197 passing yards. Robinson ran for 209 yards on 30 carries for an average of 7 yards per run, while scoring 1 touchdown. Robinson is going to be a key part of the offense in this game and will be relied upon to do a lot of the heavy lifting in the middle of the field.

It is going to be a close one, the status of Quentin Johnston is important to this game’s ending. The TCU offense wasn’t nearly as explosive without him, and if he is able to step up and play, they have the edge. As such, keep an eye on his medical status. Horned Frogs is the move if Johnston takes the field, if not, we think Texas wins in a close manner.
